The Beatles

The Beatles are a house name; clearly showing the strength of the meme in popular culture. Forty percent of Americans tuned in to watch the band's first American television appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show back in 1964. This was the start of The Beatles affecting Americans as a part of the "British Invasion".  The virus quickly mutated creating new bands, new hair trends and a love for all things doing with fab four. This case study is an example of how the original meme can remain present and not overpowered by other mutations. The Beatles hold multiple spots on The Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Albums of All Time including the number one spot with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band solidifying their relevance even today.
